shipping times & charges

PLEASE read this page to avoid misunderstandings.

  • Most items get FREE "ground" shipping in the USA (all 50 states, up to 6 business days.)
  • We generally use USPS Priority Mail for free shipping to AK and HI, which can take from 3 to 10 days.
  • Faster shipping is available at an extra charge.
  • Shipments can be delayed by bad weather, strikes, holidays, etc.
  • ►If a product description does not say "free shipping," the item does NOT get free shipping.◄
  • If you order an item that normally has free shipping, but you select a shipping method other than "ground," there will be a charge for shipping.
  • Shipping is NOT FREE outside the USA.
  • Our minimum shipping & handling charge for items that do not qualify for free shipping, is $9 ("ground" shipping, in the USA, up to 6 business days).
 
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT SHIPPING TIME ("transit days")
  • Shipping time does not include the day you place your order.
  • If you order a customized product, the shipping time starts once the product has been manufactured.
  • Quoted shipping times are based on "business days," and do not include weekends and many holidays.
  • For example, if you place an order on Friday for "3-Day" shipping, and the following Monday is a national holiday, the first transit day is Tuesday, the second transit day is Wednesday, and you should receive your order on Thursday -- the third transit day.
  • If you place an order after about 4pm Eastern Time on Friday, there is a chance that it might get shipped on Friday; but it probably won't be shipped until the next business day -- which would be Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.
  • If you need something shipped quickly, CALL us at 1 888 225-3999 -- Don't order online.

◄The chart at left shows average shipping charges for one tool or hardware item in the contiguous United States. Your charge may vary, based on weight and distance. Home delivery costs more than business delivery. Indicated "days" are business days (Monday through Friday). Saturday delivery is usually available, at an additional charge. If you are ordering something with free shipping, ignore the chart.
 
If you ask us for tracking information and it turns out that you have already received the package, we will charge you $10,000. (We're just kidding, but PLEASE ask the people you work with or live with before you assume a package is late or lost.)

  1. If you can't find what you need or just want to talk to a human being, please call us toll-free at 1 888 ABLE 999. You can also reach us by fax, email or snailmail. Click the "company info" button at the top for more contact info.
  2. We're open from 8am to 6pm, Eastern Time (5am to 3pm Pacific time) Monday through Thursday. We close at 5pm on Friday.
  3. Orders received by 3pm Eastern Time are generally shipped the same day. If you need same-day shipping and are ordering close to our deadline time, it's better to call us instead of ordering online. We can often accept orders for same day shipping as late as 5pm Eastern. Call us and we'll do our best for you.
  4. Nothing is shipped on weekends. If you place an order after 3 Eastern Time Friday afternoon, for "next business day" delivery, you will probably get it on Tuesday, not Monday.
  5. This site features secure online ordering, available all day, every day. If you don't want to order online, you can call us or send a fax or email.
  6. We accept major credit cards, and also accept payment by check (payable to "AbleComm, Inc.") or wire transfer before shipping. We accept purchase orders from educational institutions and government agencies. 
  7. We do NOT ship COD.
  8. We do NOT accept PayPal.
  9. Some product photographs are not exact, but are pretty close.

  11. We have no minimum order for this site, but inexpensive items usually don't qualify for free shipping. Orders totaling less than $25 (before shipping charges are added) are subject to a $10 additional handling fee.
  12. We collect sales tax only on shipments to CT. 
  13. You will receive an ORDER CONFIRMATION after placing an online order. This confirmation is sent to you automatically by Yahoo, the company that hosts this site, to confirm that your order has been received. It does NOT include additional charges for shipping or taxes that MAY be added when we process your order, and does NOT guarantee that the items you selected are in stock for immediate shipping. 
  14. Most items are available for immediate shipment. You can call us at 1 888 ABLE 999 to confirm availability. 
  15. We sometimes show items on this site before they are available, to help you plan future purchases. The availability dates are based on information we've received from the manufacturer, but we can not guarantee the date. If you order an item before it is available, we will not charge your credit card until we are ready to ship your order.
  16. Some items are sent to you directly from us, others are shipped by distributors and manufacturers. We try to ship from locations close to our customers.
  17. The online order form shows several shipping methods. "Ground" shipping is free for many items. You can also choose another shipping method, at an additional charge.
  18. We use a variety of carriers, including UPS, USPS and FedEx.
  19. Saturday delivery is usually available, at an additional charge.
  20. On a few items, we will charge you for shipping unless ordered with another item, as noted in the product descriptions.
  21. If you are unsure about what you are ordering, please talk to us before ordering. We want you to buy the right thing.
